The Tradeswomen Owning Their Power Scholarship

Professional coaching for tradeswomen, funded by industry partners who want more women building long careers in the trades.

Why This Exists

I created this scholarship because I know what it's like to need support and not know where to find it.

Throughout my career I’ve met incredible tradeswomen with the talent, determination and potential to build amazing careers, but too many were trying to navigate significant challenges alone.

Coaching changed my own life. I wanted to create an opportunity for other women to access that same support, regardless of their financial circumstances.

Every scholarship represents more than coaching. It represents belief, opportunity, and a commitment to making sure talented women don’t leave the trades simply because they didn’t have the support they deserved.

Building talent, community and employer brand for BHP Mount Arthur

BHP Mount Arthur wanted to attract more qualified tradeswomen to the business, and to show the women already on site that the commitment was real. Rather than simply advertising vacancies, they wanted to do something that would stand up to scrutiny.

Together, Louise and BHP designed a program supporting four qualified tradeswomen: two from inside the business, and two selected from across New South Wales. Louise then facilitated a Meet and Greet Day at the Mount Arthur site, introducing the recipients to one another, to the workplace and to the coaching program ahead of them.

The recipients gained coaching, career development and something most of them had never had: a network of women dealing with the same things. BHP gained a genuine demonstration of investment in women in trades, and relationships with talented tradeswomen who may one day work for them.

Sponsoring the scholarship turned out to be less like funding a program and more like building one.
