There’s a question that sits quietly in the background of so many decisions.
“Am I doing the right thing?”
Should I speak up… or stay quiet?
Should I move jobs… or stick it out?
Should I focus on work… or spend more time with family?
Should I post… or stay private?
And the list just keeps going.
Round and round.
Until even the smallest decision starts to feel heavy.
The pressure to get it “right”
A lot of us are walking around trying to choose the right option.
Not just a good option.
Not just an option that works.
But the right one.
The one that won’t upset anyone.
The one that won’t lead to regret.
The one that proves we’re doing life properly.
So, we pause.
We overthink.
We wait.
Because somewhere deep down, it feels like there’s an answer sheet out there
and if we just think hard enough, we’ll find it.
But here’s the truth
There is no answer sheet.
There’s no multiple-choice test at the end of your life where someone hands you result and says:
“You got 92%. You made mostly correct decisions.”
That doesn’t exist.
There is no universal “right path” that you’re supposed to magically figure out.
There is only the path you choose —
and the meaning you give to it
Why this feels so hard
Because we’re not just making decisions for ourselves.
We’re surrounded by opinions.
Especially if you’re working in a space where you already stand out —
where people feel comfortable telling you what you should be doing.
Speak up.
Don’t speak up.
Push for change.
Don’t make it a big deal.
Be visible.
Stay focused on your work.
Everyone has a version of what “right” looks like.
And when you try to hold all those opinions at once…
you lose your own voice in the noise.
The shift that changes everything
At some point, you have to realise:
No one is coming to hand you the answer.
You have to decide.
Not perfectly.
Not confidently every time.
But intentionally.
You can decide that where you are right now… is the right place for you.
You can decide that the path you’ve chosen… is the one you’re going to commit to.
Not because it’s guaranteed to be perfect,
but because it’s yours.
What about regret?
Let’s be honest.
Every decision closes a door.
If you stay — you don’t leave.
If you leave — you don’t stay.
There will always be another version of your life that you didn’t choose.
And sometimes, you’ll wonder about it.
That’s normal.
Regret doesn’t mean you made the wrong decision.
It just means you had to let something go.
You can always adjust
Something we don’t remind ourselves enough:
Most decisions aren’t permanent.
You can change jobs.
You can shift direction.
You can start again.
You’re not locked into one path forever.
So instead of putting pressure on making the perfect decision
focus on making the next one.
When everything feels overwhelming
When every choice feels heavy…
When your mind keeps spinning…
Come back to this:
What matters to me right now?
What feels aligned with where I want to go?
What decision can I stand behind today?
You don’t need to solve everything.
You just need to choose your next step.
The real power
The power isn’t in finding the “right” answer.
It’s in deciding that the answer you chose is right for you.
That’s where confidence is built.
Not from certainty
but from self-trust.
Final thought
You’re not being graded on your life.
There’s no answer sheet waiting for you at the end.
There’s just you making choices, learning as you go, adjusting when needed.
So, if you’re stuck trying to figure out the “right” decision…
Remember this:
You don’t find the right path.
You choose a path
and then you make it right.
